En el año 1854 el jefe indio Noah Sealth respondió de una forma muy especial a la propuesta del presidente Franklin Pierce para crear una reserva india y acabar con los enfrentamientos entre indios y blancos. Suponía el despojo de las tierras indias. En el año 1855 se firmó el tratado de Point Elliot, con el que se consumaba el despojo de las tierras a los nativos indios. Su memoria ha quedado en el tiempo y sus palabras continúan vigentes.
